AUTOCAR U7144T ( for VUE ) Historical for Poser and Daz Studio
Together, these were the U.S. Army's standard 4- to 5-ton, 4×4 tractor trucks, used for towing a variety of semi-trailers, like the 25-foot and 40-foot, 12 1 ⁄ 2 -ton type C-2 flatbeds (for wrecking, moving aircraft, and general hauling), and the AAF type F-2 and F-2A fuel tankers. The U7144-T also towed a trailer with SCR-270 antenna.

The engine is in Duplicolor primer gray and that will be the base color before adding detail colors and other items. Tires are done in Tamiya TS-82 rubber black. Wheels are painted with Testors olive drab. Still to be added to the frame are the fuel tank and tool compartment just aft of the air tanks on the right side.

The production of the Autocar U-7144-T Tractor Truck started in 1941. More than 11.000 of this versatile truck leaving the factories until 1945, also another 2.700 were produced by White under licence as White 444T. One of many possible combinations was the U-7144-T with the 10to Strake and Platform Semitrailer.

Autocar. » U-7144 / 8144 / 8244. The most famous Autocar military truck was standardized semi-bonneted tractor U7144T issued in 1941-45 in the amount of 11,104 units. It came with a Hercules RXC engine (8,7 l, 112 hp), 10-speed transmission, Timken axles and used to tow trailers of general purpose and fuel tanks with a capacity of 7.6 thousand.

The grill guard is 3/32 brass angle and strip stock along with small brass wire. Cab sides are 0.010" sheet brass. Cab rear and floorboard is 0.030" Evergreen. The grill guard is pinned to the front of the rolled brass. Access to the engine is either through the cab or from the rear of the cab.

The Autocar Model U8144T, officially "5- to 6-Ton, 4×4, Ponton Tractor Truck", (supply catalog number G511) was the largest, and most heavy-duty, of a family of heavy four-wheel drive trucks developed for, and deployed primarily with, the United States Army in World War II. They were of a "cab over engine" design, and produced by the Autocar Company from 1941 to 1945 with 2,711 being built.

The U-7144-T was used extensively by the US military from 1942 onwards and was certainly found on most, if not all USAAF airfields in Britain, particularly in conjunction with the standard F-1 fuel trailer. The 4-to 5-ton 4x4 Tractor Truck (Autocar Model U-7144T) is a cab-over-engine vehicle. Power is furnished by an RXC model Hercules engine. When necessary power can be transmitted to the front wheels through a centrally located transfer case. Hub construction allows the wheels to be mounted dually at both front and rear.

I bought it in 2013 in this condition from a man that restored it 20 years ago, but never finished it. So I started the restored engine for the first time on december 31. It run nicely, but the radiator was leaking.
